Landlady stop me keeping company?
If you verbally agreed that you would NOT have "overnight guests", then it would be in your best interest to notify the landlord out of courtesy that you will have a friend staying over from time to time. I do think that if you discuss this with a friendly tone, explaining that you don't feel comfortable sending people home alone late at night, it is plausible that it will be accepted. I would not make it a habit to do every week-end and I would be as quiet about it as possible. It is always possible that they had a tenant in the past who completely ignored the rules , so they are hestitant about you.Just prove you are a person of your word, be patient, be honest with them..and I feel they will come around to your view-point.A person who pays the rent on time,is courteous, follows the guide-lines and is a good tenant is hard to have a dis-agreement with. I do not think that they can stop you from doing this, but they probably could make it very un-comfortable for you to continue to live there, if the two of you cannot agree. I don't see that she could in any way enforce it, because it will always be your word against hers, since it is not written in the lease.(I do hope you have a copy of that lease!) Hope this helps some...Good-Luck!
