What are good points in order to change a teacher's grading policy. College course.?

Professors are normally given 100% freedom re: their grading structure. And I've seen many professors with policies such as this one - where if you fail the final, you fail the course. I would be quite surprised if you get your grade changed, but IMO, it's certainly worth a shot. You lose nothing by at least trying, and have everything to gain.
